BIG POP GUITAR NOISE were no more. D, Rick and myself had gone our seperate ways, and to some extent; I felt out on a limb. I hooked up with Deak, Stu and Ruffy with a view to being the sound engineer at a couple of their gigs. They were fans of my time in GUNLAW, and we all became firm friends. Stu's one of my best friends to this day. I gradually ended up playing guitar for their band THE CRISPS. This video is the earliest recorded video that I could find that shows me playing guitar with them. It's taken from a VHS that at the time of writing this, is 20 years old .. it's held up suprisingly well. At the time of this gig, we're playing some Mod stuff .. a little bit of WELLER stuff (JAM-era) thrown in and it all sounds like a cross between Mod/Soul/R&B. I kind of look 'out-on-a-limb' at this gig, but that's because I was finding my feet (again). Interestingly, we'd return to one of these songs (BECAUSE OF YOU) 3 years later in the DAVINCIS!
