Here's a cracking live set from BITE playing at THE GRAPES INN on the 29th November 1984. It's an audience recording, but it's a good capture nonetheless. I can remember using my Yamaha SG 2000 for this gig. Loved that guitar. I got it because John McGeoch was (and remains to this day) my favourite guitar hero. You can hear us play: THE ELITEPUSHSOLDIER OF FORTUNECONQUEREDTHE MASSACRE OF YOUTHSHOOT! SHOOT!HA! HA! MURDERBREAK and ending the set with WOLF. There follows an encore of The Cult's SPIRITWALKER. Captured for posterity is Les humming a tune right at the end of the tape. I don't recognise the tune at all, so I think it's safe to say Les never brought it to the table. There are also 2 early sessions of us rehearsing in a timber shed at my old workplace at R.B. RICHARDS (long since demolished). The first session sees us running through versions of PUSHFRIENDS BEFORE LOVERSHA! HA! MURDERSHOOT! SHOOT! and WOLF. The tape cuts off abruptly part-way through WOLF and then we're into another session at the same workplace featuring 2 run-throughs of a new track (the title of which has been lost in the mists of time) plus BREAK and a final run-through of that new tune. There is some tape damage to the start of the rehearsal tapes, but the damage only manifests itself on the first song of both rehearsal sessions. I'm happy to present it here, as I think that if I left it another couple of years, all the tapes may have become unplayable.
